Well thought out and organized information for anyone considering a career in video game development. Required reading for those looking to change careers or the aspirations of youth about to enter college.
Surprisingly this had a lot of great information in there, even though the book is tailored for video game design. I want to go into web development or database management, but the book had a lot of helpful tips and tricks that I will be applying when I am out job hunting. I'd buy this again for sure.
I liked that it gave me perspective of what the game industry is actually like. This (I think) is better for newcomers than anyone else. I choose four stars because it barely scratched the surface of the industry, but it's a great start for someone trying to learn.
Working closely at a game dev school this book hits a home run. The author details the various jobs that make up a game studio. He covers strategies for preparing a portfolio, resume, code samples and what to expect from the interview process. This is a great book for anyone who is going into the gaming industry.
Solid book. Useful as I'm transitioning to video game industry as a designer. If you apply the advice, it works. Easy to read.
Arrived quickly, and He enjoyed it. Not much else to say.
Quite basic , not a lot here that you can’t get from a single 20 min conversation with an industry friend
