"LOST MANSIONS OF MISSISSIPPI, VOLUME II" is a fantastic read for those who love the architecture of the Old South. For those of us who have already read Vol. I, this was a wonderful treat. Ms. Miller has done a lot of research and the photos are wonderful. Whether you have visited Natchez or were lucky enough to have lived there, this is a must-have book. We've heard stories of the grandeur of many of these homes, but were never able to see them until now. Congratulations on a job well done. auntpitty

wonderful book just to read but has so much information for those who are interested in the old, now gone, homes of the past.

I love old houses and this was a bitter sweet read.....

Volume I was much better. It had more pictures and was more thorough.

this book put into a good perspective of the antebellum period. I love the architecture of this period too bad so much lost. I am enjoying reading this book.

I enjoyed it

I love anything written by Mary Carol Miller. She in a Mississipian herself who does great research and always has new information.

Although it was written well, I got lost in some of the lengthy accounts. I gave it 4 stars because my interest wasn't peaked.

M. Kummerow has a special talent for teaching us what the war in Germany was really like. Her dedication seems equally based in her own familyâ€™s experiences and a commitment to historical accuracy. This series is best read from beginning to end, but I find myself thinking each book is better written than the last-so you certainly can read the later books without all the earlier background. I intend to keep reading all she publishes. For WWII historical fiction enthusiasts, Kummerowâ€™s books are â€œmust readâ€.

I loved this story as I've loved the other ones in the series. It can certainly be a standalone, but I enjoyed knowing some of the characters from her other novels. The love between the brothers in this story was so strong that I felt I was hanging on with them. And the love story woven into the novel was precious amidst the awful things that took place at that time. I am looking forward to Marion's next novel!

The research and realism in this story is fantastic, even if it saddens the heart to know so many people suffered such horrible experiences due to war, especially one that had gone on so long. However, the ending left me with a sense of hope and assurance that the human spirit is strong enough to overcome and move on to a better future. Very well-written, and an excellent story.

This is the last book in the War Girls series and shows the awful happenings in Germany and Poland at the end of World War II. It reminded me of Gone With the Wind. In Uncommon Sacrifice all principals settle down into a somewhat sane existence, a good ending.

Marion the author as done a good job expressing the hardship to be in a war. The suffering, dealing with death and being the one to live and go on surviving the memories. Great series to read you will not be disappointed and will not want to lay the book down.

Sometimes family is so important to survival in life. To Peter, Stan, and Anna family gave them something to fight for in tough times. Love truly does conquer all. Another Great War girls book, love this series.

The characters were so real. It was really hard to put down.Very realistic story. I can't wait to read her next book. So far I have read all she has written and have never been disappointed..

I simply loved this book. Finished it all in one reading, the way I have done with some other of Marion's books. I will recommend to everyone!
