Triumph Over Hepatitis C

From the Author

BIOGRAPHY I contracted hepatitis c in 1979 from 4 blood transfusions. After 15 years of misdiagnoses I was finally diagnosed by mistake. My doctor told me that interferon was an 80% cure and it was my only hope. After interferon failed I decided I was not finished yet. I was given 3 to 5 years to live. That was 8 years ago. After curing myself from this tragic virus, I wrote my first book, Triumph Over Hepatitis C, and discovered that thousands of people had similar experiences as I did. Thousands called and emailed to find out just what to do. I then began to supply people with the same items I used to get well at wholesale prices. This was never my intent; it just developed and has saved the lives of many. People who have been bed ridden for years get up and go back to work. People from all over the world come to me just to say thank you for having their lives back. It is just overwhelming. I then published Hepatitis C Free, Alternative Medicine VS. The Drug Industry, The People Speak. This is a book of testimonials, a cross section of over 50,000 emails and letters from people who did some of what was in my first book. Many have been blessed from my experience and I continue to help every person I can.

This book was fabulous! I called and spoke to Lloyd Wright who was sincere and down to earth. He has done the research for us and I am going to start his program very soon now. This book is informative and offers hope for hep c sufferers who are looking for an alternative to interferon that has been tested and found to work.God bless Lloyd for sharing this with all of us. He has done his homework and hopefully, this program of supplements and lifestyle change will work for those of us who try it. I was ready to try ozone therapies which I read were effective but this program is cost effective.Good luck to anyone who reads and tries this natural approach to get rid of a very serious virus!

I can absolutely relate to the author's illness and desperation, because I'm where he used to be. HCV is manageable up to a point, but after that point, one begins asking if it's not time to choose between quality of life and quantity of life. Those of us who have failed to slay the dragon by conventional means have very little hope, unless you want to call "hoping" for liver cancer in order to get a transplant a viable option. It's that, or sit around and wait to die.I've met one individual who has beat the virus using this method, and while I've always pooh-poohed alternative therapies, I've come to the comclusion that "modern medicine" isn't all it's cracked up to be. This book gives me hope--not necessarily that I can eradicate the disease (although that would be wonderful), but that I can live a relatively normal and healthy lifespan. In some cases, conventional medicine only offers a 30% cure rate for HCV. The treatment is extremely rigorous and there's no guarentee at all there's a pot of gold at the end of this ugly 24 to 48-week long rainbow. It's all a crap shoot. This author offers another method, and if it only works as often as conventional treatments, it's worth looking into.I urge anyone who has HCV or knows someone with this awful disease to buy the book and read it. Even if you choose not to follow this method, it'll be there waiting when "modern medicine" boots you out the door and slams it shut because there's nothing left to do.

if you have hep c get treatment now. If you can't afford the treatment either go to India for treatment or take a chance with an online pharmacy and get the medicine. I have read that the medicine is less than $2000.00. It's a shame that American pharmacies are ripping us off for lifesaving medicine.

I found the book very insightful and quite helpful as I search for information to treat and eradicate hepatitis C. The author was very clear on what didn't work and the turmoil and hell he went through in battling this dreaded killer disease. Reading the book offers tremendous hope and a real sense that hepatitis C can be cured! Grammatically it could use some corrections but those are overlookedin light of the information and hope gained.

This is an awesome book that gives you insight into the fact that there are alternative ways to treat hepatitis C. The conventional methods are very destructive to the human body, I know I have seen a number of friends of mine take the interferon and how much it has aged them over the years. Also the fact that supplements can truly make a huge difference especially milk thistle. Anyhow I recommend this book to anybody who's looking for an alternative means instead of these highly destructive methods that the FDA and doctors are pushing.

I believe this book should have been proofread before production because some of the material has nothing to do with Hepatitis C(i.e., his girlfriends drinking habits and misc sex info that was not necessary). However the book information seems possible but it seems like there is too many pills/potions and misc stuff to take and the patient will go broke trying all this stuff. If the book could be rewritten with more specific items that actually made the cure or put them in stages and rate on which really helped. I realized what is good for one person may not be good for another. I'll put this book on my library shelf for possible future research needs.

Great information gave me some good answers

Review

“Brave, emotionally authentic, and riveting.” —Bitch “A nervy, expansive memoir from a pioneering gender activist.” —Kirkus Reviews“A singular achievement and gift to the generations of queers who consider her our Auntie, and all those who will follow.”—Lambda Literary “Disarmingly funny and a pleasure to read. . . . I think everyone can gain something from Kate’s honest, brave account.” —Feministing.com "This memoir shines a bright, unflinching light on those reasons and the consequences of living on the far edge of the fringe… With the brave, adventurous life she's led, Bornstein gives us a reason to keep on living, too.” —Bitch Magazine blog“Kate Bornstein is brave. She is very, very brave. Her memoir, A Queer and Pleasant Danger, should be located in all three of the LGBT, self-help and biography sections of your local library and bookstores.” —EDGE "This memoir manages to be both wrenchingly transformative and luminously wondrous, a sumptuous literary combination.” —Pride Source “A Queer and Pleasant Danger is not for the faint-hearted, for reasons that become fairly evident (see: sadomasochism), but is ultimately uplifting, hopeful, even joyous.” —Shelf Awareness“This is a softer, sometimes sorrowful, side of the always-outspoken Kate Bornstein, and I loved it…A Queer and Pleasant Danger is a wildly wonderful read.”—Long Island Pulse Magazine“Bornstein is hilarious, honest, acerbic, and fearless in her writing…QAPD is at least three books in one, each of which is a page-turner.” —Religion Dispatches"Kate Bornstein's journey from moon-eyed Scientologist to queer icon is harrowing, heartbreaking, and amazing.  This narrative is surely not for the squeamish.  And yet, in the story of a sea-dog named Al who became a trans goddess named Kate we see the messy, unsettling, inspiring struggle of a lady trying—and at last succeeding—to let her own soul be known.  Disturbing and wondrous."—Jennifer Finney Boylan, author of She’s Not There and I’m Looking Through You“Breathless, passionate, and deeply honest, A Queer and Pleasant Danger is a wonderful book. Read it and learn.”—Samuel R. Delany, author of Dhalgren"To me, Kate Bornstein is like a mythological figure or a historical literary character such as Orlando or Candide who, by illustrating her struggles, shows the rest of us how to live. This book is destined to become a classic." —Mx Justin Vivian Bond, author of Tango: My Childhood, Backwards and in High Heels"A Queer and Pleasant Danger is a brave, funny, edgy, and enlightening new memoir. I loved it and learned from it. Kate Bornstein shares her fascinating journey—through gender, Scientology, and more—and it was a thrill to tag along on the ride. This book is unbelievably powerful and affecting. If Kate Bornstein didn't exist, we would have to invent her. But luckily for queers, straights, gender outlaws, and general readers, Bornstein is out and out there." —Dan Savage, author, columnist, and architect of the "It Gets Better Project""There are a number of adjectives that one could use to describe A Queer and Pleasant Danger: snarky, funny, anguished, frightening, heartbreaking, brave, honest...this is a book that is dangerously appealing." —The Gay and Lesbian Review, July-August issue  From the Hardcover edition.

I felt vaguely voyeuristic reading this. As if I intercepted a brutally personal letter between two estranged, but still loving family members. Which, at its heart, I suppose is exactly what it is. Still, while the journey is uniquely the author's, the candor and insight shared with the reader - even if none of us is the one for whom this memoir is written - is so nakedly honest, it's captivating. A lot of the subject matter is stuff I never knew or ever wondered about. Still, this Kate's-eye-view of her life's journey and the insights she picked up along the way, has something to resonate with nearly everyone... even if it's just the love of a parent for their child. I found it a rugged read in some parts, but that's my baggage. I have to commend the author for her brutal honesty and magnanimous, loving spirit. Even her recollections of her life and estrangement from Scientology seem more sadness than bitterness. Life lived, lessons learned. Namaste Kate.

I love Kate's story. I had no idea what to expect, because I didn't understand the complexities of gender that is so central to her story; I had no concept of Scientology outside Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes; and I've never been a cutter. But I still found myself relating so hard to this book, especially the desire to be cute and adored.Kate has such a charming humor and flowing writing style that makes the cities and people in her story come alive. With her honesty, she takes away the shame and sting of her darker thoughts and behaviors. Because as painful as the topics of suicide and cutting can be, I ended up inspired by her hope and courageous spirit as she grew brighter as a person after every low point.Just from what I knew of Kate, and from her "It Gets Better" video, I expected to fall for her in this memoir. And as smitten as I was through the whole story, her letter at the end completely captured me. If all parents could communicate with such empathy, love and sincerity to their children, well, this would be a lot kinder world to live in. I would give anything for my parents to have such genuine curiosity about my feelings and empathy for my place in life like Kate is offering to her daughter.Thank you, Kate, for sharing your story. Your book has a cherished spot on my bookshelf beside Urban Tantra.

This book is many things. A funny, sad, and nostalgic memoir. Revealing accounts of the Queer, S&M, and Scientology subcultures from the inside. An exploration of the inherent ambiguities that exist in gender and sexuality (and an outsider's take on the Queer Theory in academic studies of such topics). A frank discussion of other taboo topics like suicide and cutting. And most importantly, a narrative which brings these topics to life for the reader in a profound and sometimes disturbing way (depending on your perspective). For the uninitiated, the most shocking parts can be skipped (and the reader is given ample warning in at least one case). But the story as a whole is something I think just about anyone can relate to given enough patience, since it is still a story of the experiences and emotions that made Bornstein who she is, and that is something anyone can relate to. This joins Stone Butch Blues and Zami: A New Spelling of My Name on my list of books that have made me identify more with my queer brethren.

Excellent. But let me start out with what bothered me, which was the apparent levity in which she treats her eating disorders and the desire to cut. S&M - different issue - I'm not here to judge. Both anorexia and cutting are serious issues that should be treated (or at least acknowledged) as such. That being said, the apparent honesty and freshness in the way that she writes is amazing. Mark Twain believed that no man could ever write a completely true biography in his lifetime -- or ever. Kate Bornstein has come as close as anyone ever will to doing that.I already knew that there are jackasses everywhere, but the passages relating to her being discriminated against at lesbian or feminism functions and the community just sadden me.Great for people with an interest in gender studies and LGBT rights/issues.

A fascinating read. Kate Bornstein has lead a twisty-turny life and weaves incredible humor and inspiration into harrowing ordeals. It is so interesting to get an insider view into the life of an influential thinker and social influencer such as Kate. An excellent selection for anyone going through difficult life circumstances especially around issues of identity, sexuality, spirituality, and career choices. Quite the coming of age tale.

Read this with my book club and we found no end of things to discuss. I'd read some excerpts from this author's previous book while in college and enjoyed them well enough. This book is pure memoir and covers so many topics (since the author has such a varied life path) that we had to call it a night before really exhausting the discussion. Amusing as an insider's tale of Scientology and intriguing as a discussion of transitioning genders.

It must have taken a lot of guts to write thismemoir. I learned a lot, especially to listen to someone whom I would have thought really "queer" a month ago--what a strong person Kate Bornstein must be. Congratulations! Why not five stars? The book was literally too personal: I got a lot of information about people who I will never meet, probably never hear of again and in whom I am not interested. Otherwise, a mind and heart expanding must.

I don't know how Kate did it but she took her life, filled with so many hardships, and turned it into the feel good hit of my bookshelf. If this was just a gender-bender bio it would still be great but it's also a terrific look of what it was like to serve under L. Ron Hubbard as he operated Scientology on the high seas to avoid being sent to any number of possible prisons in country after country where his UFO cult was seen as a scam. I was amazed at how many big sustained laughs she got out of me page after page.
