JASON GRUHL is the former Executive Director and founder of The Joshua School (a school for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Developmental Disabilities in Boulder and Denver, CO) and a Psychotherapist. Jason holds a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and a Bachelor's degree in English and Psychology. He dedicates his life to helping others through meditation, writing, and self-discovery. IGNASI FONT is an award-winning artist and illustrator. As Art Director for Bungalow Studio, he creates expressive and poetic ways to communicate ideas through animation, music artwork, editorial illustration, and children's books. What a beautiful, refreshing, meaningful, and creative children's book - equally meant for adult bookshelves galore! The writing is poetic and engaging. The illustrations are so thought-provoking. In my view, a mark of a good children's book is one that evokes questions, leaves a lasting impression, and generates excitement. Everything is Connected checks every box.
The author has created a simple story that expresses the world as everyone and everything connected and that we impact every part of our world. The story is written and illustrated with children in mind by using fun illustrations and word combinations that will be sure to bring a smile to a child's face. At the same time, it will bring an understanding to children and their parents that the world is you and I and everything in it. Thank you for enjoyable and comforting read...
First, the cover of this book is so engaging - both visually and by touch. Well-made and designed to be read and re-read many times. Next, the illustrations are beautiful both on their own and how they compliment the story. And finally, kids will really GET that everything is truly connected - the good, the bad, the ugly, and the sublime. A wonderful (and re-assuring) lesson for kids of all ages.
What an engaging book for your kid! As soon as we received "Everything is Connected" in the mail, my six-year-old daughter immediately opened it and started reading. I dropped what I was doing to explore this book with her. We found that this book is not only beautifully written, but has illustrations that drew my daughter into a smart, exciting, and touching world of relationships, new concepts, and wonder. This is a book we will be reading time and again. It's rhythmic simplicity invites young readers to explore deeper concepts and spark new discussions that connect parent to child and everything between and beyond.
I am in love with this book. I initially bought it as a guiding message for my son, but have found that it was equally beneficial for me! A wonderful reminder of how humans are no different than other creatures and a general sense of kindness for all things is evident in the book. This messaging is contradicted perfectly with mostly black backdrops and and muted pleasing colors with a string running from cover to close. The more you look at it, the more detail you see. I can’t wait to continue to read this to my son and talk with him about just how powerful and wow-erful I know he will be!
I purchased this book for my nephew and a copy for myself. I loved the message of no matter who we are, where we are from or what species we are, we are all connected. Hearing a message of togetherness and the reminder that we can all stand to remember our divine connection to all things , is just what children and adults need to hear right now in our world climate. Absolutely loved it!
The message in this book is important. It can help a child understand that his/her actions and decisions have an effect on this fragile world. The Author's Note encapsulates it by stating, "There's a little bit of you in everything and because of that you are never, never alone." Importantly, the book is not preachy - there's a funny element to it. Also, the graphics are vivid and beautifully illustrated. This is one of those books that will be read at bedtime over and over again.
